Our history

According to our research, the house was first mentioned in 1870, and it only came into family ownership on November 1, 1931, when Sofie and Moritz Gaum decided to take over the former station restoration themselves. After only 7 years of happiness together, Moritz died in 1938 and 4 years later Sofie married his cousin Ignaz Gaum, who continued to host the Bahnhofs Restauration and Ignaz, who had previously worked as a beer driver at the Sauter brewery, drove a taxi and ran the farm. The daughters Maria and Sieglinde support the mother at home and the son Alfred sets up his own drugstore in the Tübingen area. In 1969 Sofie died and only 1 year later Ignaz Gaum, her daughter Sieglinde took over the restaurant and went on alone. Sieglinde met the cook Josef Martin in search of a cook. At the end of 1973 they married and converted the former restaurant restoration into the current restaurant and gave it the name "Gasthof Gaum". In addition to bowling alleys and adjoining rooms, the rooms were converted and outdoors A beautiful, large garden is built adjacent to a mini golf course. Her son Harald Martin follows in his father's footsteps and trains to become a chef in Fischbach on Lake Constance. In order to gain experience in gastronomy, he works with his girlfriend in various hotels all over Germany, from Oberstaufen to Cuxhaven to Saig / Titisee / Neustadt. 1999 Harald Martin and Susanne Kincler marry and take over the Gasthof Gaum on November 1st, 1999. They bring their ideas and experiences with them, both in service and in the kitchen , where only fresh and seasonally appropriate food is processed. As a recognition and special award, Harald Martin i n the European association Eurotoques (chef's hat) has been included, where he undertakes to process only natural products that are fresh and are produced according to the season using traditional craftsmanship. Younger guests are also taken into account. After the renovation of the guest room, a separate children's room is set up, where you can play to your heart's content. This is one of the reasons why the Gasthof Gaum was awarded the 1st family-friendly restaurant in the Biberach district by the DEHOGA (German Hotel and Restaurant Association) in 2004. As a member of the Landzunge campaign, the Martin family also says: "The best from the region is fresh the table.
